Exposure OLAS Tags and the OLAS Float-ON pair with your device to create a virtual tether between your phone/tablet and crew members, children, pets or objects, such as a lifebuoy.
When the virtual tether is ‘broken’ due to crew overboard the OLAS mobile Application will:
– Emit an audible alarm and light signal.
– Record the time and GPS location where the incident occurred.
– Clearly illustrate the direction and course to return to the alert GPS location.
– Advise on VHF Mayday Call, with auto input location.
NOTE: The OLAS app will direct back to the last known alert GPS position, recorded by the mobile device when the incident occurred. The OLAS app does not live track the OLAS tags location after the connection has broken. The OLAS devices are

Exposure OLAS Scenarios Afloat Sailing shorthanded There’s one helm on deck and the other(s) below deck due to severe weather, sleeping, shift rotation, making a drink etc. The helm sets the autopilot for a quick adjustment to the sails. A simple misplaced footing or bad wave...and then they are overboard without anyone noticing, when or where this happened. The OLAS app will start the alarm approximately 8 seconds after the connection between the mobile device and the tag is broken. Sailing with inexperienced crew or friends OLAS records the time and co-ordinates when the alert goes off. It then uses these co-ordinates to help direct the crew back to where the incident first occurred. If the crew are required to call for help OLAS also advises on the correct VHF procedure and clearly illustrates the co-ordinates Child minding At anchor, in port or even by a swimming pool you want your children to feel free to run around. But a simple trip and they can be off the dock or boat and into the water. If they are wearing an OLAS Tag the alert will sound when they fall in. Your mobile device can be connected to an external speaker system to ensure the alert can be heard above local noise. MOB Alert Screens Alert Compass The compass gives a simple clear visual aid to steer to the direction where the alert occurred. An arrow points to the logged coordinates and tells you the compass bearing and distance to return to the incident co-ordinates. Alert GPS coordinates The Alert Latitude and Longitude are stored along with the time of the incident and the vessels current Latitude and Longitude. This is displayed clearly on the screen allowing the user to easily inform the rescue services of the essential information. VHF Distress procedure OLAS APP walks you through making a DSC Distress alert and MAYDAY call. In a stressful situation it’s easy for even experienced sailors to ‘go blank’. Every second is vital. Pre-set your OLAS APP with your vessel information, such as vessel name, call sign and MMSI. This will be integrated into the distress call procedure along with the coordinates of the alert.
