- HYPOHOIST Man Overboard Recovery System (MOB)is designed to recover a conscious or unconscious person from the water and back onto the vessel, whilst minimising risk and injury to the casualty. The main component of Hypo Hoist is its dual function cradle which can be used to either hoist and roll the MOB up the freeboard, level with the deck and back on to the craft, or to operate as a boarding ladder with hand holds to allow access back onto the vessel.Hypo Hoist MOB recovery system recovers a casualty, conscious or unconscious, from the water, without changing their attitude. Lifting a MOB casualty vertically can cause a rapid drop in blood pressure, greatly increasing the chances of cardiac failure and neurological malfunctions. By maintaining the casualty in a constant horizontal position during and after recovery the Hypo Hoist is designed to significantly reduce such risks, and the potential problems caused by the effects of immersion hypothermia.
The Hypo Hoist RIB version has been designed for ease of use on smaller boats, including RIBS, small workboats and other open boats. It retains all the key benefits of the original ‘big boat’ version – namely, the ability to rescue a man overboard at speed, while minimising risk of injury. The smaller ladder-free design can be deployed and operated by one person, making it ideal for lightly crewed craft.
SeaSafe Systems manufacture the Hypo Hoist in 3 standard versions; with Ladder, no Ladder and the RIB version. Standard versions are suitable for a freeboard of up to 1.5m (5 feet). Bespoke Hypo Hoists sized can be manufactured for specific vessels types or waterside locations.
